Monroe Ride Saturday Road Trip - Fayetteville Hawks New Loop - 8/31 - 08:30

We’ll roll out right from 192 Red Oak Rd (Gate Code 3279) for one of my favorite routes.

The first 24 miles are mostly down hill followed by a long flat section that takes us to Kanawa Falls. After we roll out from there the climbing begins. We will have a stop for photos at Hawks Newsstand either have someone bring us snacks and water there or we will make a stop in Ansted before we start the next section of climbing to get us to the top of the Gorge.
Then, for me at least, the reward for all the climbing is the descent down the one way road to the bottom of the gorge. With plenty of switch backs and a downward grade of between 4 - 7 % it is definitely worth the price of admission. We’ll stop on the bridge at river level for a few more photos and then start the last climb of the day out of the gorge and back to the 192 Red Oak Rd.
